In the yard, I am always delighted for White Crowned Sparrows... I mean, they look so dignified and pretty!

Im pretty sure these are Long Billed Dowitchers... Beautiful shorebirds!!!

A pretty pair of Eared Grebes... Synchronized grooming time!

Northern Pintail

I swear this duck hates me.. Every single time I get within viewing distance of one, its GONE.. no pretty floating in the water pictures, just.. Gone..
Luckily I was driving nice and slow, and managed to get a few snaps before this lovely Male took off for good!

American Avocet

I usually come across these guys wading with their lovely long legs.. This one however, was having a bit of a swim!!

A May Excursion - NEW BIRDS!!

I heard that a Cinnamon Teal had been spotted.. It isnt exactly common for our part of the province, so the next day I headed out..
Thankfully they were still these!! A lovely pair of Cinnamon Teal who sat and posed for a few seconds before flying away...New Bird 185

While going through my pictures, I realized that this was NOT a Killdeer as I had originally thought.. but a Semipalmated Plover!!!! Another new bird!! 186

And right next to the plover was this funky little guy who I thought had a shadow underneath.. but it turns out that it is a Dunlin!!

and lastly.. one that has eluded me for awhile - a LONGSPUR!! Lapland in this case, but adorable!!

Signs of Spring

We were out for a very lovely drive, and stopped to look at something on the side of the road.. I happened to look up to see several large flocks of American White Pelican circling above!!!
